About Indus Chushot Polo Club
Our club was officially registered under the Societies Registration Act VI of 1998 (1941 A.D) No. 6528-S of 2013, the club is a non-profiteering organisation with no political affiliations. The members of this club are of age group 18 years above, and some players are army veterans who have had the experience of playing in national level. The members of the club have participated in many local matches and have also organised the polo exhibition matches of Ladakh Festival 2015 and Sindu Festival 2015.
This club was made with an aim to revive polo which is one of the heritage games of Ladakh and staying true to our goal we propagated the game whenever we got the opportunity to participate and organise polo games in Leh. With this same spirit we now want to take a bigger initiative by organising a festival dedicated for the game polo.
Aims and objective of the event
The main aim of this event is that it will help propagate the game especially among the youth so that they partake in this game and in the event at large.
With polo being the highlight of the event the other cultural traditions of the region will also be given platform so that more local people can benefit from this festival. As this festival will need a lot of community participation therefore platform will be given to the youth and women organisation of the village. The self-help groups of the village can present and sell their local handicraft, traditional food and other local products.
The success of this event will bring Chushot village on the tourist map of Ladakh. This will then raise the employment index in the village. With Guest houses and home stays being opened in the village the tourism business will help improve the economic standard of the village people.
The cultural activities will give more opportunity for the local artists to showcase their talent.Apart from generating employment and increasing the source of income of the villagers the club along with its sponsors will work for the other much needed development of the village. Input in the development of the education and village sanitation by providing free tuitions and building toilets respectively is also one of the agendas. Cleanliness drive to make people aware about keeping the environment clean is also our aim. In order to make the club more active horse riding classes and training for the games will also be given to the youngsters regularly.
