African Tourism (SAT) is pleased to
announce Ms. Alpa Jani appointed to
the key trade relations and marketing role for the MEISEA (Middle East hub, South East Asia and India region.
Alpa Jani has served as Trade Relations Manager at
South African Tourism’s Mumbai office for seven years. She has worked with
travel agents to position South Africa as a standalone destination in the early
years and then moved on to increasing length of stay, which now stands at a
commendable 11-14 days. Her projects at South African Tourism include South
African Tourism’s immensely popular Learn South Africa programme in India,
which in its second edition, travelled to 17 cities – educating travel agents
on the intricacies of selling destination South Africa.

Asia/Australasia/Middle East says, “Alpa has shown passion, determination and
commitment to creating the best possible market for destination South Africa in
India. She has a great relationship with the travel trade here and a wonderful
understanding of market demands. Additionally she has shown expertise in
working with the South African travel trade to make sure that the product meets
market requirements. I am confident that she will bring all of her past
learning’s and strengths to her new role and excel at it.”
The new position will expand the scope of Ms Jani’s
responsibility to cover the Middle East
and South East Asia in addition to India.
She started her career at South African Airways in 2003 as Supervisor
-Reservations and Ticketing. She then took on the role of Assistant Manager
E-business at Thomas Cook. In 2008 Ms Jani went on to handle HNI business at
Thomas Cook’s Indulgence. She joined South African Tourism in 2010.
Jani says, “I am delighted at the
opportunity and I look forward to taking destination South Africa to new
markets, ripe with potential.”
