| Tourist Visa On Arrival For Four Asean Countries wef January 1, 2011 |
In order to promote tourism from ASEAN region, it has been decided to introduce “Tourist Visa On Arival” scheme for the nationals of Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Philippines with effect from 01.01.2011.
ASEAN is an important source market for India from the tourism angle. India’s tourism product has been actively promoted in this market through the Incredible India campaign and other promotional and marketing events. India sees immense potential for tourism generation from ASEAN region due to geographical proximity and good connectivity with most of the ASEAN member countries.
Tourist Visa on Arrival (TVOA) scheme was introduced for the nationals of five countries, namely, Japan, Singapore, Finland, Luxembourg and New Zealand with effect from 01.01.2010. The scheme was found to be useful by the foreign tourists. During the eleven month period of January–November, 2010, the maximum number of Tourist Visa on Arrivals were issued at Delhi airport (3035), followed by Mumbai (1258), Chennai (1073) and Kolkata (278). Government of India will continue to offer TouristVisa On Arrival for these countries.
