State’s famous art and cultural festival will commence on the eve of Gudi Padwa. Many eminent artists like Hariharan, Sivamani, Rajan-Sajan Mishra, Parveen Sultana will showcase their performances on the upcoming Elephanta Festival.
Elephanta Festival will start on 23rd March at 6.30 p.m with Marathi Sugam Sangeet. Bakul Pandit, Mukund Marathe, Suresh Bapat, Mrudula Dadhe, Srirang Bhave, Ketki Bhave will flag off the event with their recital which will be followed by classical singer Parveen Sultana’s vocal. The well known percussionists ‘Sivamani’ will showacase Sufi Rhythms with Runa Rizvi.
For the first time Elephanta Festival will be a 3 day affair. On 24th March morning 6.15 am Shri. Bhimanna Jadhav will make the atmosphere spiritual by his Sunadri vadan. Aarti Aanklikar Tikekar will give a soulful experience of music through her songs. On the eve of 24th March, music and dance lovers will be mesmerized by the performances of Hema Upasani (Vocal), Leena Gupta (Bharatnatyam), Alpana Nayak (Ballet Odissi), and Aditi Mangaldas (Ballet Kathak).
For the finale i.e. 25th March morning at 6.15 am, Shri. Rajan –Sajan Mishra will engage audiences with his recital. Princess of Tabla ‘Rimpa Siva’ will stun the audience by her performance in the evening. This will be followed by fusion dance performances by Sandhya Purecha (Bharatnatyam), Jhelum Paranjape (Odissi), Manisha Sathe (Kathak), and Maya Khutegaonkar (Lavani). The concluding session will be accomplished by the musical maestro himself Shri. Hariharan with some of his best gazals. The three day long journey of music and dance will surely linger on the minds of art lovers for a long period.
