An Industry delegation led by Sri Lanka Convention Bureau and Sri lankan Airlines re launch the Campaign for several MICE promotions to boost Indian Corporate Meetings in Sri Lanka.
The objective of the 'Meet Sri Lanka' Campaign is to create awareness and interest on the profile, proximity and products of Sri Lanka in diversity of locations, among Indian Corporates and Travel Agents. It was conducted in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, Delhi & Ahmedbad.
A large number of Indian Corporates have had their meeting and Incentives in Sri Lanka in the last few years and the Bureau believes that Sri Lanka has still not got its due market share of the Corporate Meetings from India mainly due to lack of awareness. Tourism in Sri Lanka is booming with the return of total peace after the conflict in North and East and reaching a record number 800,000 tourist arrivals prior to the end of 2011
At least 12% of these arrivals represent MICE sector which brings in up market and high end delegates. India is not only the biggest market for Sri Lankan Tourism but also MICE Tourism. Apart from the meeting facilities, the Indian visitor is also attracted by shopping, entertainment, as well as visits to places of interest.
