Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority's (MTPA) efforts to promote the island as a dream destination paid off with 75% of Indians increasingly opting for high-end luxury accommodation. MTPA declared India as their primary source market and aims to double its annual tourist arrivals from India to 1,00,000 by 2015.
Factors like top of the line product offering, concept holidays, proximity to the destination, direct air connectivity, and visa on arrival facility makes Mauritius a viable choice for an ultimate luxury escape for the globetrotting Indian Traveler.
Taking a progressive step forward Mr. Vijaye Haulder, Deputy Director, MTPA led a delegation of about 24 prominent organizations comprising of hoteliers, ground handling agents and service providers from Mauritius to India. Mr. Haulder, said, “Mauritius has received a prominent increase in the average per person spent by Indian Travelers; we are committed to a greater destination visibility by enhancing the awareness quotient of the destination and positioning Mauritius as a lifestyle statement, must to visit destination”.
MTPA is proficient in its efforts to target the niche and experiential segments such as self drive holidays, Eco - Tourism, Spa and wellness, golf to name a few.
A recent trend indicates Indians are opting more for High End luxury accommodations and are spending heavily on activities like Sky Diving, Quad Bike, Segway, Wind Surfing, Water Skiing, Sub-Scooter, Submarine, Walk with the lions.
Further in the effort to cater to the dynamic Indian Outbound Market, MTPA is keen to promote Mauritius as wedding destinations.
