Hotels.com reveals the 2017 India Edition of the Monsoon Travel Hotlist

While the peak summer travel season may have reached its flag end, Indian travelers have already geared up for their Monsoon getaways. Traditionally not considered a preferred travel period, Monsoon travel has significantly grown in popularity and now has a permanent place in the annual tourism calendar.

Hotels.com™has analyzed data on hotel searches made by its rapidly growing Indian consumer base. Theses searches were conducted for stays during the period of June to September 2017,which will be the foundation on which Hotels.com™ has developed the India ‘Monsoon Travel Hotlist’ for this year. The list calls out the top 10 domestic and international destinations for the India market this monsoon season.

The data reveals the beautiful coastal city of Goa slated to be the most popular destination this monsoon, with 4 of its towns (Candolim, Calangute, Arpora&Baga) making it to the top 10. The quaint village of Arpora in Goa, which is minutes away from the famous The Baga Beach Resort registered a massive 91% increase in hotel searches in comparison to 2016.

Much like their dominance in the HPI™ 2016 report by Hotels.com, Mumbai & Delhi established their prowess as tourist attractions for 2017 monsoons as well by, witnessing a 49% and 50% respective increase in searches as compared to 2016.

The preference for quick getaways was also reflected ininternational destinations with most searched destinations for short-haul trips to Bali, Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya and Dubai clearly catching the traveler fancy.
