On the occasion Mr. Vijay Waghmare MD of the Maharashtra Tourism Development board, said, “Maharashtra has it all Beaches, Hills, Forests and wilderness; we welcome tourists to our state to enjoy our Natural Tourism Destinations. It is now up to us to improve civic sense and keep our natural heritage clean. Enjoy your travel but respect the environment, we must understand that Sustainable Tourism leads to sustainable Development, we are proud of our Western Ghats, Beaches, Wildlife Parks and Eco Friendly Destinations like Matheran.”

These ecological areas are our natural heritage sites which are living trees, corals and wildlife, they too tell us a story and keep biological biodiversity record of certain species and evolution which for us Young people is Sustainable natural inheritance. Leave it intact for us Young people. We do not need your leftovers.”

Elsie Gabriel, Founder Young Environmentalists Programme and Mentor of Climate Reality Project, shared her view and implementation of the same on this year’s theme ‘Sustainable Tourism – a Tool for Development’,  “The conclave explored the contribution of tourism to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We request MTDC to take the Powai Lake under its Tourism scheme to save it. We must clean up our own backyards, lanes and Locality to really be involved in Sustainable Tourism.
