Ministry of Tourism and ATOAI to Host Adventure Guide Training & Adventure Tourism Seminar in Bhopal

The Regional Office (West & Central) of the Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI), will organise a four-day Adventure Guide Training Programme and National Seminar in Bhopal from 17 to 20 March 2026.

The initiative aims to strengthen safety standards, build professional capabilities, and encourage strategic collaboration within India’s rapidly growing adventure tourism sector. By equipping adventure professionals with advanced safety skills and facilitating policy dialogue among industry leaders, the programme seeks to promote the sustainable and responsible development of adventure tourism across the country.

The first three days, from 17 to 19 March, will focus on an intensive Adventure Guide Training Programme, organised with the support of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and the Madhya Pradesh Eco Tourism Board. The training is designed for professionals engaged in outdoor activities such as trekking, mountaineering, and water-based adventures. Participants will receive specialised instruction in wilderness medical response, emergency preparedness, and risk management, enabling them to effectively handle critical situations in remote and high-risk environments.

The programme will be delivered by VIVO Healthcare and EKO India, organisations recognised for their expertise in safety training and outdoor leadership education. VIVO Healthcare will conduct modules on First Aid, CPR, and Basic Life Support (BLS) through simulation-based learning designed specifically for wilderness and remote-area emergencies. EKO India will lead sessions on risk mitigation strategies, wildlife awareness, snake rescue techniques, bird identification, and the management of human–wildlife interactions, aligning with global best practices in adventure education and field safety.

Upon successful completion of the training, participants will gain practical skills in trauma assessment, wilderness medical response, evacuation planning, and the implementation of safety protocols, enabling them to function as trained first responders and responsible leaders in adventure tourism operations.

The programme will conclude on 20 March with a half-day Adventure Tourism Seminar titled “Adventure Strategy for a New Era.” The seminar will bring together tour operators, adventure clubs, training organisations, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss the future of adventure tourism in India.

Discussions will focus on strengthening safety frameworks, improving governance and regulatory models for adventure activities, aligning with international standards, exploring the role of technology and AI in tourism experiences, and identifying policy and investment opportunities for destination development.

The event is expected to attract around 100 participants, including ATOAI member operators, adventure clubs, training institutes, eco-tourism stakeholders, and hospitality partners. Representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, and the Madhya Pradesh Eco Tourism Board will also be present.

Through initiatives like this, the Ministry of Tourism and ATOAI continue to promote capacity building, safety excellence, and industry collaboration, reinforcing India’s position as a globally competitive destination for safe and sustainable adventure tourism.
