Tourism Malaysia joins hands with Scapia to launch ‘Malaysia Calling’
Four-month ‘Malaysia Calling’ campaign highlights unexplored destinations, cultural experiences and travel rewards for Indian holidaymakers
Mumbai, 9 October 2026: Malaysia is inviting Indian travellers to look beyond conventional holiday itineraries as Tourism Malaysia joins hands with travel fintech platform Scapia to launch ‘Malaysia Calling’, a four-month campaign showcasing the country’s diverse landscapes, cultural heritage and adventure experiences.
The initiative aims to encourage travellers to venture beyond popular destinations such as Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highlands and discover the distinctive attractions of Sabah, Sarawak, Penang, Melaka and Langkawi.
The partnership comes amid growing Indian interest in Malaysia. According to Scapia, flight bookings to Malaysia have increased nearly fourfold year-on-year, while accommodation bookings have doubled, reflecting rising demand for the destination.
Through the campaign, travellers can explore curated experiences while enjoying special discounts and bonus Scapia Coins on eligible flights, stays and activities booked through the platform.
Anand Kandadai, Head – Strategic & Travel Partnerships, Scapia, said the collaboration would introduce travellers to lesser-explored destinations while delivering greater value through attractive travel rewards and offers.
H.E. Ms. Najwa Musyrifah Ramli, Consul General of Malaysia in Mumbai, highlighted India's importance as a tourism source market, emphasising Malaysia’s rich combination of tropical rainforests, picturesque islands, culinary traditions and authentic local experiences.
Malaysia recorded 962,983 Indian visitor arrivals between January and August 2026, supported by visa-free entry introduced in December 2023.
Air connectivity continues to strengthen tourism prospects, with 193 weekly direct flights connecting more than ten Indian cities to Malaysia as of October 2026, offering approximately 36,010 seats weekly.
Scapia’s booking trends also reveal increasing demand for theme parks, cable car rides, aquariums, sightseeing tours and dining experiences, alongside emerging interest in Penang and George Town.
With Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 gaining momentum, ‘Malaysia Calling’ seeks to position the country as a destination offering much more than traditional sightseeing—from wildlife encounters and rainforest expeditions to island adventures, heritage discoveries and immersive cultural journeys.
For Indian travellers seeking fresh experiences, Malaysia promises a new story beyond every familiar destination.
