Uzbekistan Airways launched its maiden flight from Goa to Tashkent

Uzbekistan Airways JSC has officially launched its maiden flight from Manohar International Airport (GOX) in North Goa, a monumental step in enhancing air connectivity between India and Uzbekistan. The airline, in collaboration with its Indian partner, Arya Enterprises, now offers a convenient bi-weekly service operating every Sunday and Wednesday, opening up exciting travel opportunities for Indian tourists and business travelers.

The airport, developed by GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL), handles around 100 aircraft movements and approximately 15,000 passengers daily. The inaugural Uzbekistan Airways flight was greeted with a spectacular water cannon salute, a traditional aviation ceremony to welcome an international carrier to new territory.

Passengers on the maiden flight were treated to a warm, celebratory atmosphere with a ceremonial lamp-lighting, followed by special welcome goodies – including dry fruits and wrap-around neck pillows. The inaugural flight arrived from Tashkent with 111 passengers and departed for Uzbekistan with 82, including a group of 40 Indian students bound for Russia via Tashkent to pursue MBBS degrees.

This is the airline’s second launch from India this year, following the commencement of regular services from Mumbai in April.
