Arunachal Pradesh Unveils Bold Tourism Vision with New Policy and Brand Identity

The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has officially launched its comprehensive new tourism policy, aimed at transforming the state into a premier global travel destination. Accompanying this strategic initiative is the unveiling of Arunachal Pradesh Tourism’s new logo, marking a significant rebranding effort to redefine the state's travel narrative.

Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, Shri Pasang Dorjee Sona, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Education, RWD, Library, and Parliamentary Affairs, highlighted the state’s commitment to responsible and sustainable tourism. “Our vision is to position Arunachal Pradesh as a world-class travel destination, preserving its breathtaking landscapes, rich tribal heritage, and unique biodiversity. This policy aims to significantly boost domestic tourism and increase international tourist arrivals by tenfold.”

The revamped tourism approach prioritizes experiential travel, with a strong focus on Farm Tourism, Wine Tourism, Wellness and Spiritual Tourism, Adventure Tourism, Film Tourism, Ecotourism, Tribal Tourism, MICE Tourism, and Border Tourism.

To drive this vision forward, the state government is placing emphasis on capacity building and skill development within the tourism sector. Shri Mopi Mihu, Hon’ble MLA and Advisor to the Minister for Tourism, shared, “We will conduct skill gap assessments to align with industry needs and collaborate with premier institutions like IITTM and IHM to introduce specialized training programs. Additionally, we will offer management courses in state institutions to equip local entrepreneurs and guides with essential skills.”

The policy also introduces investment-friendly measures, with initiatives aimed at attracting private sector participation. Shri Ranphoa Ngowa, IFS, Secretary, Department of Tourism, outlined the state’s approach, stating, “A dedicated facilitation cell will act as a single-window platform for investors, providing necessary guidance and addressing their concerns. Furthermore, we are working closely with Invest India to attract tourism investments and streamline business operations.”

To enhance Arunachal Pradesh’s appeal on the global tourism map, the government is implementing an integrated marketing strategy, leveraging digital platforms, social media campaigns, and event-based promotions to showcase the state’s diverse travel experiences.

Reflecting on the significance of the state’s new tourism brand identity, Shri Manjunath R, IAS, Director, Department of Tourism, stated, “Arunachal Pradesh is a treasure trove of tribal cultures and traditions. Our rebranding aims to invite travelers to explore an untouched, immersive side of India. Modern tourists seek authentic and transformative experiences, and we are ready to offer them a journey into the heart of India’s final frontier.”

The impact of these efforts is already visible, with foreign tourist arrivals (FTAs) surging by 300% to 4,496 in 2023 and domestic tourist visitors (DTVs) witnessing a 368.91% increase to 1.04 million compared to 2022. With this dynamic new policy and brand identity, Arunachal Pradesh is set to emerge as a sought-after travel destination, offering authentic, sustainable, and culturally immersive experiences for travelers worldwide.
