Maharashtra to host 14 meetings of G20 Summit
India took over the Presidency of G20 nations for the first time and will hold the G20 Presidency from 1 Dec 2022 to 30 Nov 2023.The G20 summit in India will be a golden opportunity to accelerate sustainable growth in India and the world.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi remarked that from 1st December 2022, India will preside over the G-20 Summit and said that it is a historic opportunity for the country. The Prime Minister said G-20 is the premier forum for international economic cooperation representing around 85% of the global GDP, over 75% of the worldwide trade, and about two-thirds of the world population. Calling this a momentous occasion, the Prime Minister said the Presidency of G-20 during the year of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a matter of pride for every Indian. The Prime Minister expressed happiness over the growing interest and activities about the G-20 and related events.
14 meetings of the G20 summit will be held at four locations in Maharashtra – Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad) in next two months. Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde informed that the summit will provide a good branding opportunity to showcase the development of projects of the state and exhibit Maharashtra’s culture before the world.
A meeting of the Development Working Group of the G20 Council will be held in Mumbai from December 13 to 16, the infrastructure working group will meet in Pune on January 16 and 17 and in Aurangabad on February 13 and 14. The rig side event will be held at Nagpur on March 21 and 22. Thereafter various meetings will be held in Mumbai from March 28 to 30, May 15 to 23, July 5 and 6, September 15 to 16 September 2023. Meetings will be held in Pune from June 12 to 14 and from June 26 to 28 in Pune.
