A proud native of Jabalpur, India—where the iconic Narmada River flows—Chef Anuj brings his deep-rooted passion for Indian cuisine and an adventurous spirit to the vibrant dining experience at Mamaka by Ovolo.

Chef Anuj’s journey into the culinary arts started young, inspired by traditional riverside cooking on chulhas (brick stoves). What began as weekend experiments with friends quickly evolved into a lifelong love for the art of blending spices and creating flavorful dishes. Now, Chef Anuj is on a mission to elevate Indian cuisine in Bali, introducing bold, innovative takes on timeless classics while staying true to its authentic roots.

At Mamaka by Ovolo, every spice blend—from garam masala to chaat masala—is crafted in-house under Chef Anuj’s guidance. Signature dishes like dal makhani, slow-cooked for 24 hours, and butter chicken showcase the rich, layered flavors of North India. Street food favorites, such as aloo chaat from Jaipur, and snacks like curry leaf butter-fried prawns inspired by South India's coast, add regional depth to the menu.
