Nok Air to Launch Mumbai to Bangkok Starting 28 October
Nok Air (Thailand based Premium Budget Airlines) is set to expand its operations from Mumbai with the introduction of eight weekly flights between Mumbai and Bangkok, beginning from 28 October 2024. This marks a significant development in the airline's India strategy, following the successful launch of flights from Hyderabad to Bangkok in February last year. With this new route, Nok Air aims to strengthen its capacity and tap into the growing demand for travel between the two countries.
Nok Air's Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Ranon Viputsiri, highlighted India as a key market for the airline, noting that “India is a large market compared to many other countries, and there is substantial demand for travel from India to Thailand.” Currently, the airline operates four weekly flights from Hyderabad to Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok, offering connections to popular Thai destinations such as Phuket, Krabi, and Chiang Mai.
Nok Air will deploy its Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which has a seating capacity of 189, on the new Mumbai-Bangkok route. The daily flight, DD939, will depart from Mumbai at 2:05 AM, arriving in Bangkok at 7:45 AM. On the return leg, flight DD938 will depart from Bangkok at 10:05 PM and land in Mumbai at 1:05 AM the following day.
Travelers opting for Nok Max can enjoy a range of premium services, including wide seats, 30 kg of checked baggage, 7 kg of carry-on allowance, advance seat selection, lounge access, priority check-in, and a complimentary hot meal, ensuring a comfortable and convenient journey. The airline’s evolving product lineup is designed to cater to both leisure and business travelers, with additional in-flight entertainment and activities enhancing the overall passenger experience.
The Mumbai-Bangkok route will boost Nok Air’s overall capacity to over 13,000 seats per month, with the airline aiming to maintain an average load factor of more than 80%. “Mumbai, being a key business and leisure hub, presents significant growth potential for us,” said Viputsiri. He added that Nok Air plans to launch strategic pricing and marketing campaigns to support its expansion in the Indian market.
As the airline expands in India, it aims to increase its presence in the country's Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) and Wedding sector, collaborating with tourism and hospitality partners to meet the needs of this growing market. Looking ahead, Nok Air also plans to further grow its Indian network and will add Delhi as next destination.
As Nok Air celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, the airline continues to expand its network and enhance its services, reflecting two decades of commitment to providing reliable and customer-centric air travel. With this milestone, Nok Air is reinforcing its focus on delivering a premium experience, especially as it grows its presence in the Indian market. The launch of the Mumbai-Bangkok daily flights is a testament to the airline's dedication to connecting travelers with Thailand and offering seamless, comfortable journeys as part of its anniversary celebrations.
