“Sapno ka Gateway” - Mumbai Festival 2024 from 20 to 28 January, 2024

The Directorate of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, the primary entity responsible for boosting tourism within the state, today announced the 'Mumbai Festival 2024'. The announcement was made by the Hon'ble Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, Shri Girish Mahajan, along with Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairperson, Mumbai Festival Advisory Committee, in the presence of Dr. B.N Patil, Director, Directorate of Tourism.  

The announcement was highlighted with the unveiling of the Mumbai Festival logo and the theme “Sapno ka Gateway” and the Mumbai Festival theme song composed by renowned music composer Shamir Tandon, echoing the kaleidoscope of cultures with boundless energy and resilience embedded in Mumbai's soul. The theme song presentation has been further augmented with superstar film director and dance choreographer Remo D’Souza presenting a set of hook steps that brought alive the Mumbai Festival song. Dancers performed the hook steps along with the media and got everyone to create a new rhythm and movement. 

The 9-day Mumbai Festival that kicks off from January 20, 2024, to January 28, 2024, would showcase the spirit of unity with the theme 'Everyone's Invited'. The theme emphasizes the inclusivity of Mumbai as the melting pot that welcomes and embraces everyone in the city of dreams, 'Sapno Ka Gateway.' The festival will feature cultural events, musical events, food festivals, and more.  

Speaking at the Mumbai Festival 2024 launch and announcement ceremony, Shri Girish Mahajan, Hon'ble Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, said, "Mumbai Festival 2024 is being organized by the Government of Maharashtra, to celebrate different facets of Mumbai. The festival brings together a set of experiences and initiatives that highlight the Mumbaikars' spirit and the city’s rich historical and cultural heritage.” 

“The festival aims to boost tourism, cultivate development and inclusiveness, and discover new opportunities and avenues in the industry. Mumbai Festival 2024 isn't just an event; it's a transformative experience, poised to be one of the biggest annual festivals that India has ever witnessed. We urge everyone to join as this festival is a tribute to Mumbai, capturing the essence of Mumbaikars' indomitable spirit, delving into its rich historical heritage, and embraces every facet that defines this dynamic city", said Hon’ble Minister of Tourism, Girish Mahajan. 

In his address, the Chairperson, Mumbai Festival Advisory Committee, Mr. Anand Mahindra, highlighted, "Mumbai Festival 2024 is envisaged to be an extravagant festivity that emphasizes immersive experiences, highlights the essence of Mumbai, and will bring people together, as our theme rightly highlights 'Everyone's Invited.' Through the Mumbai Festival, everyone will witness the unique celebration through multiple events amalgamating art, culture, sports, fashion, and more. This festival isn't just an event; it promises unparalleled joy, making it the pinnacle of festivities for all revellers in attendance." 

Department of Tourism has entrusted Wizcraft Entertainment Agency Pvt. Ltd. to conceptualise and manage the Mumbai festival.  

The festival events will be held at various locations across Mumbai. The event line-up boasts diverse, engaging activities featuring cultural events, a vibrant Music Fest, the Maha Mumbai Expo, captivating Cinema and Beach Fests, a Movie competition and an exciting Cricket Clinic, a Start-up fest among many others. 

One of the unique highlights is “Mumbai Walks” wherein the icons of the city would come together to felicitate and pay a tribute to the heroes of Mumbai who keep maximum-city moving comprising the dabbawallah, the police havildar, the BEST bus driver and conductor, sweepers, cleaning crew, etc. 

The major highlight of the Mumbai Festival is the SHOP & WIN Festival that would cover at least multiple retail and dining outlets, plus entertainment opportunities. Mega prizes would include a set of gratifications and experiences that would make dreams come true.  

The Mumbai Marathon; Kala Ghoda Arts Festival; Happy Streets; Yoga By The Bay; and Aarogyam Kidzathon are set to be integral parts of the Mumbai Festival as collaborative events, further enhancing the city’s vibrant cultural celebration. Besides this, one of our partners will be co - curating an exhibition on the memories of Mumbai seen through the lens of photographers over the years. 

The proposed schedule for the Mumbai Festival was revealed, accompanied by the screening of a film dedicated to the festival.

The Mumbai Festival, in its inaugural edition, emerges as a grand celebration spanning nine days, taking center stage across diverse locations in the heart of Mumbai. With a mission to showcase the city's cultural kaleidoscope, the festival brings together a tapestry of events, performances, and experiences. Spearheaded by the dynamic Mr. Anand Mahindra, serving as the Chairperson of the Mumbai Festival Advisory Committee, the cultural phenomena aims to capture the essence of Mumbai's rich heritage and spirit. This festival promises to become an iconic annual celebration, uniting communities and celebrating the vibrant cultural mosaic that defines the city of Mumbai.
