Curtain Raiser Held for 6th Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart & 1st Marwar Travel Mart
Rajasthan should focus on creating immersive tourism experiences as today's travellers seek meaningful experiences rather than simply visiting destinations, said Ms. Shuchi Tyagi, Secretary, Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, while addressing the curtain raiser of the 6th Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart (RDTM) and the 1st Marwar Travel Mart (MTM) at ITC Rajputana, Jaipur.
She highlighted that with improved infrastructure, enhanced connectivity and focused promotion of wildlife, wellness and adventure tourism, Rajasthan aims to strengthen tourism as a major driver of economic growth while encouraging visitors to explore both iconic and lesser-known destinations. She added that tourism is the State's greatest strength, generating livelihoods and employment, and reaffirmed the Government's commitment to sustainable tourism growth under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
The event also witnessed the signing of an MoU between the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, and the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR), followed by the launch of the official posters for both travel marts.
Tourism Commissioner Ms. Rukmani Riar said domestic tourism would play an increasingly important role amid the current global geopolitical scenario. She announced that the next travel mart after Jodhpur will be held in Udaipur and revealed that the State is working on a financial incentive policy to promote Shekhawati fresco art and homestays. She also noted that while over 20,000 B2B meetings were held during last year's RDTM, this year's edition is expected to facilitate more than 25,000 meetings.
FHTR President Mr. Surendra Singh Shahpura urged the industry to move beyond traditional sightseeing by promoting Rajasthan's fairs, festivals, polo heritage and Tier-2 and Tier-3 destinations. He also highlighted the proposal to develop Bandikui as a Railway Heritage City.
FHTR Secretary General Mr. Tarun Kumar Bansal informed that the 6th Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart will be held in Jaipur from 17–19 September 2026, bringing together over 300 tourism and hospitality stakeholders from across India. The inaugural Marwar Travel Mart will follow in Jodhpur from 20–22 September 2026, with around 125 industry participants. This year's theme is "Stories, Journey, Smiles."
Chairman of the Marwar Travel Mart and President of JHARA, Mr. J. M. Boob, said the event aims to showcase Marwar's wildlife, handicrafts, culture and folk traditions while giving a fresh boost to tourism across the region.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Rajendra Singh Pachar, Senior Vice President, FHTR.
