Join ATOAI’s 16th Annual Convention in Tawang, December 2024

The Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) is on an ambitious mission to propel India into the global top ten for Adventure Tourism. With an unwavering commitment to this vision, ATOAI is focusing on sustainable, responsible tourism practices, working with state governments and the national Ministry of Tourism to set new standards in safety and operations. This year, the association is excited to host the 16th Annual ATOAI Convention in the scenic locale of Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, from December 3rd to 8th, 2024, under the theme "Exploring Arunachal Pradesh: India’s Last Shangri-La."

The convention, a key event on the Indian adventure tourism calendar, promises to be a remarkable gathering of industry leaders, professionals, and enthusiasts alike. Set against the awe-inspiring backdrop of Tawang's serene monasteries, border vistas, and tranquil lakes, the convention aims to shine a spotlight on the untapped potential of Arunachal Pradesh as a premier adventure tourism destination. Alongside its natural beauty, delegates will experience the vibrant Monpa culture through traditional performances and authentic local cuisine.

This year’s convention will feature engaging sessions on the future of adventure tourism in India, with a particular focus on balancing safety with environmental preservation. ATOAI’s sustainability goals will take center stage, with the entire event striving to be a net-zero affair. Delegates can also look forward to thrilling FAM tours designed to showcase the uncharted trails and frontier villages of the region.

In his message to ATOAI members, Mr. Ajeet Bajaj, the Padma Shri awardee and President of ATOAI, emphasized the importance of adhering to world-class safety and sustainability standards in adventure tourism. Bajaj also highlighted ATOAI's ongoing collaboration with the Bureau of Indian Standards to achieve ISO 21101 certification, further strengthening the safety framework for adventure tourism in India. He called upon members to engage in ATOAI’s various initiatives, including the revamping of committees, regional chapter strengthening, and the rollout of Responsible Adventure Guide training programs across the country.

As registration for the convention opens, Bajaj urges participants to secure their spots early, as limited inventory and high demand are expected. This convention is not just an event but an expedition into one of India’s most captivating and unexplored regions—an opportunity not to be missed.
