Madhya Pradesh Charts New Path with ATOAI to Boost Responsible Adventure Tourism

The Madhya Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board (MPEDB) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) to advance safe, sustainable, and community-driven adventure tourism in the state. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on September 3, 2025, at Vallabh Bhavan, Bhopal, in the presence of Mr. Ashok Barnwal, Additional Chief Secretary (Forest), Government of Madhya Pradesh.
The MoU was formalized by Dr. (Smt.) Sameeta Rajora, PCCF, MP Forest Department & CEO, MPEDB, and Mr. Nirat Bhatt, Hon. Treasurer, ATOAI, with Mr. Yog Chinmoy Dutt, Executive Committee Member & Co-Chair (Western & Central Region), ATOAI also present.
Through this collaboration, MPEDB and ATOAI will:

Identify key projects and budget allocations for adventure tourism development

Share technical expertise and best practices

Ensure compliance with global safety benchmarks

Conduct training and skill-building programs for local communities

Promote low-impact, carbon-neutral adventure tourism models

Channel CSR/CER investments to strengthen infrastructure and community livelihoods
On the same day, a new eco-tourism site at Magarpath (near Kolar Dam), adjacent to Ratapani National Park, was inspected by Mr. Barnwal, reaffirming the state’s dedication to responsible and community-centered tourism initiatives.
Founded in 1994, ATOAI represents over 700 members nationwide and is recognized as India’s apex body for adventure tour operators, working closely with government and industry stakeholders to promote policy, safety, sustainability, and market development for adventure tourism.
