SITE Thailand Champions MICE Talent Development with MOUs Across Five Universities

In a landmark move to strengthen the future of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry in Thailand, SITE Thailand, the national chapter of the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with five prominent universities and academic clusters across the country.

These strategic partnerships mark a significant step in SITE Thailand’s ongoing efforts to foster MICE education, nurture young talent, and align Thailand’s academic ecosystem with global industry standards. This initiative echoes SITE Global’s mission to build bridges between professionals across the incentive travel value chain through education, certification, and global networking.

Under the visionary leadership of President Paula (Punnaporn) Wongjunpen, a well-known destination management entrepreneur and CEO of Paula & Co DMC Thailand, SITE Thailand has placed academic collaboration at the forefront of its agenda. These MOUs are more than symbolic—they are a part of a concrete roadmap to build a future-ready workforce equipped with globally relevant knowledge and skills.

From March 2024 to March 2025, SITE Thailand formalized five partnerships with institutions representing Thailand’s North, Northeast, Central, and Eastern regions. These agreements promote practical integration of academia and industry through curriculum development, research, student engagement, and experiential learning.

The series began with Chiang Mai University on March 25, 2024, followed by dual MOUs signed on October 18, 2024, in Khon Kaen with the Nakhon Ratchasima Convention Exhibition Center (NCEC) and CEMBEI, Khon Kaen University. On January 30, 2025, a fourth MOU was sealed with Burapha University and the Eastern MICE Academic Cluster. Most recently, on March 27, 2025, SITE Thailand partnered with Silpakorn University and the Central MICE Academic Cluster.

“These collaborations aren’t ceremonial—they’re a serious investment in our future. People are the heart of MICE, and we’re ensuring that our next generation is globally connected, industry-ready, and professionally groomed,” said President Paula Wongjunpen.

Looking ahead, SITE Thailand will spearhead joint educational activities such as guest lectures, workshops, student development programs, and industry research initiatives throughout 2025, reinforcing Thailand’s leadership in MICE education across the region.
