Indonesia Tourism Board Unveils Growth Vision and AI-Driven Strategy at ATF 2026
At the Indonesia Tourism Board session during ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2026, Indonesia outlined an ambitious and future-ready roadmap, highlighting strong tourist arrivals, smart marketing, and a renewed focus on quality tourism.
Indonesia recorded 13.98 million foreign tourist arrivals between January and November 2025, reflecting steady recovery and regional confidence. Looking ahead, the tourism board shared an optimistic 2026 projection of 16 to 17.8 million international arrivals, driven by enhanced connectivity, product diversification, and technology-led promotion.

A key highlight of the briefing was Indonesia’s evolving marketing strategy. The destination is increasingly leveraging Artificial Intelligence to deliver a more personalised and intuitive information search experience for travellers, while also using AI-based insights to sharpen its marketing decisions. Participation in major international travel expos remains a priority, alongside FAM trips for travel partners to help them better understand Indonesia’s diverse destinations and offerings.
Indonesia reiterated its commitment to Quality Tourism, with curated thematic experiences taking centre stage. Focus areas include gastronomy, wellness, marine tourism, textiles, art, and design, encouraging deeper engagement rather than mass travel.
Community-based tourism continues to be a strong pillar. Indonesia is home to an impressive 6,074 tourism villages, each offering a blend of local culture, natural beauty, and unique traditions, providing authentic experiences for visitors.
The board also announced the Wonderful Indonesia Tourism Fair scheduled for October 2026, which will serve as a key platform for buyers and sellers. Reinforcing its “Go Beyond Ordinary” vision, Indonesia has launched MaIA, an AI-powered destination information model, marking a significant step towards smart tourism.
