Taiwan Showcases ‘Non-Stop’ Tourism Appeal in India, Targets India’s High-Value Travellers
Seeking a stronger foothold in India’s rapidly expanding outbound travel market, the Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications led its largest-ever tourism delegation to India in February 2026. The initiative positions Taiwan as a premium destination for leisure, business and incentive travel. With sustained annual growth of over 20%—outpacing India’s outbound average by nearly double in recent years—Taiwan is strategically deepening Indo-Taiwan engagement through enhanced tourism exchange and people-to-people connections.
The delegation, comprising two Taiwanese airlines, seven travel agencies and cultural performance groups, commenced its outreach with a Taiwan Tourism Workshop in New Delhi. The workshop attracted more than 100 travel trade professionals and media representatives, presenting Taiwan’s upscale leisure offerings, strong MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) infrastructure and curated travel solutions tailored for Indian travellers.
The delegation further participated in the three-day Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) in Mumbai, one of South Asia’s largest travel trade exhibitions. Through focused B2B meetings, engaging pavilion displays and cultural showcases, Taiwan reinforced its positioning as a competitive Asian destination for India’s premium and corporate travel segments. Known for its low crime rate, efficient public transport and traveller-friendly environment, Taiwan continues to be regarded as one of Asia’s safest destinations, including for solo women travellers.
Addressing attendees in New Delhi, Dr. Mumin Chen, Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in India, highlighted Taiwan’s multifaceted tourism strengths. Internationally recognised for its leadership in technology and semiconductor manufacturing, Taiwan also offers dramatic mountain ranges, scenic coastlines, lush forests and rich biodiversity within a compact, easily navigable geography. Comparable in population to Delhi, the island seamlessly blends natural beauty with modern infrastructure.
India’s outbound momentum remains robust. Nearly 47,000 Indian travellers visited Taiwan in 2025, marking over 20% growth compared to 2024 and exceeding pre-pandemic levels. India’s total outbound travel crossed 30 million in 2024, with continued double-digit growth into 2025—underscoring significant long-term opportunity.
At OTM Mumbai, Taiwan showcased its global brand campaign, “TAIWAN – Waves of Wonder,” under the pavilion theme “Taiwan Non-Stop,” highlighting the destination’s seamless shift from serene daytime landscapes to vibrant nightlife. Cultural diplomacy was central to the outreach, with traditional performances and interactive heritage workshops offering Indian trade partners immersive insights into Taiwanese culture.
With Mumbai accounting for nearly 63% of India’s corporate and incentive travel movement—and the Taiwan Tourism Information Office established there in 2024—Taiwan is sharpening its focus on business travel while expanding into the broader leisure segment. Through sustained promotions and localized engagement, Taiwan is positioning itself as a safe, sophisticated and culturally enriching destination for India’s next generation of global explorers.
